Mumbai-Thane Link Exposed in Bhondu Baba Mobile Spying Case, Bail Plea Sparks Outrage
Pune – Prasad alias Dada Bhimrao Tamdar used hidden app to monitor devotees’ private moments; accused of targeting young girls and expanding activities through Mumbai-Thane network
Pune’s controversial self-styled godman Prasad alias Dada Bhimrao Tamdar, popularly dubbed as “Bhondu Baba,” is at the center of a shocking case involving digital surveillance, alleged sexual exploitation, and a widening criminal network. Tamdar was recently sent to judicial custody for secretly installing a hidden app named Air Dry Kids on the mobile phones of devotees visiting his monastery, enabling him to monitor their private moments without their knowledge.
In a startling twist, Tamdar filed a bail application the very next day after his arrest, triggering strong objections from the original complainant, who has publicly spoken out against him. The complainant, who first exposed the case and reportedly fears for their life, has urged the court to deny bail, citing the scale and sensitivity of the crime. In an interview with NDTV Marathi, the complainant revealed disturbing details of how Tamdar manipulated and exploited young female devotees under the guise of spiritual guidance.
Even more troubling is the recent revelation of Bhondu Baba’s connection to Mumbai and Thane, where he allegedly expanded his exploitative activities through a female accomplice. This expansion raises fears that the scope of his crimes may extend beyond Pune, involving a broader network of vulnerable targets and accomplices.
Despite serious allegations, including potential extortion and exploitation of minors, legal experts have pointed out that charges under the stringent POCSO Act have not yet been applied. The prosecution has highlighted this as a major lapse and is pushing for a more thorough investigation into all aspects of Tamdar’s activities.
Lawyers for the complainant have appealed to the court to reject Tamdar’s bail request, emphasizing the risk of evidence tampering, witness intimidation, and the possibility of him continuing his predatory operations.
As public outrage grows, the case underscores the urgent need for vigilance against manipulative individuals misusing spiritual platforms to exploit trust, especially of women and minors. The coming days will determine whether the judicial system rises to the occasion to deliver justice and protect the vulnerable.
