Rs 3.5 Lakh for a School Trip? Lucknow Kids Fly to Japan While Netizens Recall 'India Gate Days’
A video featuring students from a Lucknow school exploring Japan has gone viral on social media, leaving many amazed at the kind of international exposure young kids are now getting. The students are from City Montessori School (CMS), and the video shows them speaking to an Indian man in Japan who is stunned by the idea of such a trip at a young age.
The clip, originally shared on July 15, shows a man spotting Indian students in Japan and approaching them. He asks, “Is there now a school in Lucknow that is taking kids to Japan?” The children respond that they are from Class 5, which surprises him even more.
He asks them to come closer to the camera and repeat it. “The school is actually bringing kids to Japan!” he exclaims.
One student then casually mentions, “They’re also planning a trip to Germany and Vietnam,” which leaves the man in complete disbelief.
“In our time, the school would only take us to the India Gate. That’s it,” he adds with a laugh.
The man continues to ask the students more about the trip. When he asks about the cost, the students respond, “Rs 3.5 lakh.” He confirms, “For one child? And how many days is this trip?” They reply, “10 days.”
When asked how many students are part of the trip, they say, “64 students.”
Later in the video, an older student from Class 11 named Johnson joins the conversation. The man then asks, “So it is not just Class 5; anyone who could afford it could come?” Johnson replies, “Yes.”
Towards the end of the video, the content creator shares his own thoughts with viewers. He says, “It is nice to see children coming from India and exploring a new country. It gives them a lot of exposure. I understand education is expensive, but for those who can afford it, it is great that they are sending their children. These travel experiences help them grow and become more mature and responsible.”
The clip has now crossed 3.6 million views and continues to be widely shared. The caption of the viral post reads: “Lucknow ka school tour per Japan le gaya tha students ko 3.5 lakh me.”
While many users praised the school’s global approach to learning, others were surprised by the cost and wondered how many students could actually afford such trips. The video has sparked a larger conversation about the changing face of education and the value of real-world exposure for children.
