Incident highlights rising concerns over sudden cardiac events post-exercise

A tragic incident unfolded at a wellness center in Rajkot, where a 52-year-old man, Rajendrasingh Ratansingh Gurji, collapsed moments after completing a yoga session. The entire episode was captured on CCTV and has since gone viral, drawing attention to the growing number of sudden cardiac arrests during or after physical activity.

The incident occurred on Tuesday morning at the Om Wellness Center. According to the footage, Gurji descended the stairs around 8:09 AM, appearing visibly uncomfortable. He sat on a chair near the staircase, rubbing his chest, a possible sign of pain or discomfort, while holding a bag in his other hand. Just over two minutes later, at 8:12:10 AM, he collapsed unconscious.

Emergency services were immediately alerted, and Gurji was rushed to Civil Hospital via a 108 ambulance. However, despite efforts by the medical staff, he was declared dead around 10 AM. Preliminary reports confirmed that the cause of death was a heart attack.

This marks the second such case in Rajkot within days. Just two days earlier, a non-local youth reportedly collapsed while urinating in the Metoda area, an event also caught on CCTV.

The sudden death of Gurji has left the community in shock and his family devastated. He is survived by his wife and two daughters. The local Malviyanagar Police have been informed and the body has been sent for post-mortem examination. Authorities are now urging citizens to undergo regular health check-ups, especially those engaging in strenuous physical activity.
