Caught On CCTV: 25-Year-Old Player Dies Suddenly On Hyderabad Badminton Court
Hyderabad | July 28, 2025 – In a heartbreaking incident captured on CCTV, a 25-year-old man collapsed and died of a suspected heart attack while playing badminton at Nagole Stadium in Hyderabad on Sunday evening.
The deceased, identified as Gundla Rakesh, was employed with a private company in the city. He was also the son of Gundla Venkateswarlu, a former Deputy Sarpanch from Tallada in the Khammam district.
The shocking footage, now circulating widely on social media, shows Rakesh participating in a doubles badminton game around 8:00 PM. Just as he bends down to pick up the shuttlecock, he suddenly collapses face-first on the court. Fellow players are seen rushing to his aid, with one attempting chest compressions in a desperate effort to revive him.
Rakesh was immediately taken to a nearby hospital, but doctors declared him brought dead.
The sudden demise of a young and seemingly healthy individual has once again sparked concern over the increasing number of cardiac arrests among young adults, especially during physical exertion in sports and gym activities.
Health experts have reiterated the importance of regular medical checkups, especially for individuals engaging in high-intensity physical activities. They highlight the need for early detection of underlying heart conditions and adopting lifestyle changes to mitigate risks.
