In a recent distressing incident, a 19-year-old young woman’s life was saved thanks to a timely intervention triggered by a social media alert. After a painful argument with her boyfriend left her emotionally shattered, the girl attempted to take her own life. Before doing so, she shared a final message on Instagram saying, “Good bye in my life.”

Recognizing the seriousness of the post, Meta, the parent company of Instagram, acted swiftly and alerted the police at 12:48 AM on July 29, 2025. Within an impressive 19 minutes, the authorities arrived at the scene. Working alongside the girl’s family members, the police managed to rescue her from the noose and immediately provided first aid.

Further investigation revealed that the young woman was under intense emotional distress due to the dispute with her boyfriend, which pushed her to this extreme decision. The prompt response by the police, alerted by Meta’s suicide prevention system, proved crucial in saving her life. The family has expressed heartfelt gratitude towards both the police and Meta for their timely action.

Following the rescue, the police arranged counseling and psychological support for the girl. She has since given assurances that she will not attempt such an act again. The family also commended the efficiency and dedication demonstrated by the police and Meta throughout the process.

From January 1, 2023, to July 25, 2025, their suicide prevention alert system has contributed to saving 1,181 lives, highlighting the importance of such technology in addressing mental health emergencies.
