Dog in Driver’s Seat? Parked Car in Lokhandwala Market Brings Andheri Traffic to Standstill — Video Goes Viral
In a scene that feels straight out of a comedy skit but unfolded in real life, a major traffic jam in Mumbai’s bustling Lokhandwala Market area took a strange turn when commuters found a car parked smack in the middle of the road—with no driver in sight. But what truly caught everyone off guard was who (or rather what) was behind the wheel: a calm and collected Siberian Husky, sitting proudly in the driver’s seat of a red hatchback.
The unusual incident took place in Andheri West’s Lokhandwala Main Market, a typically busy spot known for its narrow lanes and heavy traffic flow. The red Honda Brio was found abandoned in the center of the road, causing a major snarl that left a BEST bus and a line of vehicles stranded behind it. As confusion mounted, bystanders and a bus conductor approached the car—only to discover the furry passenger sitting comfortably behind the steering wheel.
The video, shared by the Andheri Lokhandwala & Oshiwara Citizens’ Organisation on Instagram and X (formerly Twitter), quickly gained viral traction. The post, which highlighted the major inconvenience caused by the carelessly parked vehicle, tagged the Mumbai Traffic Police, prompting a response from the authorities requesting the exact address for further action.
The dog, identified as a Siberian Husky and believed to be the car owner’s pet, was seen gazing out the window, seemingly unbothered by the honking horns and gathering crowd. There was no sign of the car owner at the scene, and the vehicle’s number plate appeared to be blurred in the shared clip.
Social media, as expected, had a field day. The video sparked a wave of reactions, from angry outbursts to cheeky comments. While many netizens slammed the driver’s irresponsibility, others couldn’t resist poking fun at the absurdity of the situation. “Take a photo and upload to the Mumbai Traffic App. The challan will be issued against the offence,” “What a cutie pie! but this is so dangerous – leaving him alone in the car like that,” “I know it’s supposed to be serious but the dog in the driver seat is just too cute.. he’s like what you looking at? My hooman is just getting me treatos,”
Despite the laughter, the core concern remained serious: not only did the parked vehicle disrupt traffic in a high-density area, but it also posed a potential safety risk by leaving an animal unattended in a public space. Animal lovers and commuters alike condemned the act, demanding strict action against the unidentified car owner.
The Mumbai Traffic Police have acknowledged the complaint and are currently awaiting more details to trace the individual responsible. As of now, it is unclear whether any official charges or fines have been issued.
In a city where daily hustle often turns into chaos, this peculiar husky-on-the-wheel moment has managed to offer a mix of frustration, disbelief, and chuckles. While the internet may have found a new furry meme star, let’s hope the driver learns that traffic rules aren’t something to take lightly—no matter how adorable your co-pilot may be.
Because as cute as it is to see a husky in the driver’s seat, it’s best they stick to the passenger seat.
