Independence Day is here, and so is a wave of pride, patriotism, and celebration across the country. While India gears up to honour its freedom, OTT platform JioHotstar is joining the celebrations in its own powerful way—with a nationwide campaign titled Operation Tiranga, offering free, full-day access to its entire content library on August 15. From thought-provoking films to inspiring real-life stories, this initiative is not just about streaming—it’s about saluting the soul of the nation through storytelling.

As part of Operation Tiranga, JioHotstar is making all its content available completely free for 24 hours, giving every user—whether subscribed or not—access to its entire entertainment catalogue. This bold step aims to make content more inclusive and give every Indian the chance to experience stories that echo the country’s rich heritage, history, and values—without any barriers.

The campaign also introduces a specially curated collection titled “Tiranga Ek, Kahaniyaan Anek”, a tribute to the Indian flag and everything it represents. The lineup draws inspiration from the three colours of the Tricolour, with each section capturing the essence of courage, peace, and pride:

Saffron – Symbolising valour and bravery, features gripping stories like Take Off, Madras Cafe, and IB71 that highlight courage under pressure.

White – Representing sacrifice and resilience, includes emotionally charged narratives such as Salakaar, Neerja, Mangal Pandey: The Rising, and Chandrashekar.

Green – Reflecting India’s deep cultural roots, features legacy-driven stories such as Sarzameen, Kesari 2, and Airlift that celebrate pride and identity.

Users logging into JioHotstar on August 15 will be greeted by a specially designed welcome screen, inspired by the Indian flag. This reimagined interface not only reflects the festive spirit but also guides viewers to the curated content collection with ease.

Minakshi Achan, Head of Brand & Creative at JioStar, said that Operation Tiranga is part of the platform’s larger mission—to give users the freedom to choose what they watch, when they watch, and how they watch it. By removing all paywalls for a day, JioHotstar opens the doors to stories that celebrate India’s strength, courage, and identity. To amplify its message, the campaign is also running across TV, outdoor billboards, digital media, social platforms, and through brand collaborations, ensuring it reaches audiences far and wide.

In partnership with the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, JioHotstar is also using this campaign to spread awareness about flag etiquette—teaching users how to respectfully display and honour the national flag.

Operation Tiranga is more than a campaign—it’s a reminder that freedom is about connection, courage, and remembering where we come from. Whether you’re watching a war drama, a biopic, or a film rooted in culture, every title on August 15 becomes a small tribute to the nation. So this Independence Day, celebrate not just by waving the flag—but by watching the stories that carry its spirit. Tune in, reflect, and be proud—India’s stories are waiting.
