Pune Police Raid Ballr Pub In Kalyani Nagar For Late-Night Liquor Sales On Dry Day, Manager Booked
Pune, August 15, 2025: Pune Police have taken action against Ballr Pub in Kalyani Nagar for allegedly selling liquor beyond the permitted hours. The incident occurred in the early hours of Friday, when police received a tip-off from the control room that liquor was being served despite the night ban.
Around midnight, the Beat Marshal from Ramwadi Police Chowky was alerted about the violation. Acting promptly, Night Duty Officer Police Sub-Inspector Phatangare reached the pub at 1:10 AM and confirmed that alcohol sales were ongoing.
Senior Police Inspector Ravindra Shelke of Yerawada Police Station said that the pub’s manager, Raymond Francis D’Souza (45), a resident of Rajhans Colony in Kothrud, has been booked under sections 223 and 293 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), along with Section 33(w)/131 of the Maharashtra Prohibition Act. The case is currently under investigation.
This is not the first time Ballr Pub has been in the spotlight. In May last year, the Maharashtra State Excise Department took action against the establishment after it was found serving liquor to a minor involved in the high-profile Kalyani Nagar Porsche crash case.
Despite repeated controversies, the pub continues to attract a large crowd from Pune’s nightlife scene.
