Pune: Undri's Godrej Horizon Residents Celebrate I-Day With 150 KW Solar Power Plant Launch
Pune, August 16, 2025: Residents of Godrej Horizon, Undri, marked the 79th Independence Day on August 15, 2025, with a celebration that went beyond flag hoisting and cultural activities. The society took a significant step towards sustainability by inaugurating and commissioning a 150 KW solar power plant within its premises. The project, the largest of its kind in the Undri–Mohammadwadi area, was inaugurated by a former local corporator.
The newly commissioned plant is expected to substantially reduce the society’s dependence on conventional energy sources while cutting down on carbon emissions. According to society representatives, the initiative reflects their collective commitment to creating a greener, cleaner environment for future generations.
Animesh Prasad, Secretary of Godrej Horizon, highlighted the journey of the project, saying, “We began planning this initiative in mid-2024. After reviewing multiple proposals, we selected M/S Sunlife Energy as our implementation partner. The commissioning of this solar plant today is the outcome of consistent efforts by our managing committee members and the wholehearted support of our residents. With this plant, we aim to achieve a 70–80% reduction in our annual electricity expenses.”
The commissioning of the plant not only positions Godrej Horizon as a pioneer in sustainable living within the locality but also sets an example for other housing societies in the region. Prasad added, “I would strongly urge other societies in Undri to consider switching to solar energy. It is both cost-effective and environmentally responsible.”
As the tricolour unfurled in the society premises, the Independence Day celebration also became a moment of pride for residents who embraced the freedom to choose renewable energy, aligning their festivities with a vision for a sustainable future.
