Veteran Actor Achyut Potdar, Known for 3 Idiots and Many Bollywood Films, Dies at 91

Veteran actor Achyut Potdar, best remembered for his role as a professor in 3 Idiots, passed away on August 18, 2025, at the age of 91. He breathed his last at Jupiter Hospital in Thane, where he was admitted due to health-related issues. The cause of death has not been revealed. His final rites are scheduled to be performed in Thane on August 19.
Potdar, who began his professional journey in the Indian Armed Forces and later worked with the Indian Oil Corporation, ventured into acting during the 1980s. Over the decades, he built an impressive career in Hindi and Marathi cinema as well as television.
His filmography includes acclaimed titles such as Aakrosh, Albert Pinto Ko Gussa Kyoon Aata Hai, Ardh Satya, Tezaab, Parinda, Dilwale, Yeh Dillagi, Rangeela, Vaastav, Hum Saath Saath Hain, Parineeta, Lage Raho Munna Bhai, Dabangg 2, Ventilator and many more. On television, he featured in popular shows like Wagle Ki Duniya, Majha Hoshil Na, Mrs Tendulkar and Bharat Ki Khoj.
