Paud, August 19, 2025: A helicopter made an emergency landing in Saltar village, about 30 kilometers from Lonavala in Pune district, on August 15 after encountering heavy rainfall and dense fog. The sudden landing created panic among villagers, but all six people on board — including two pilots and four passengers — escaped unharmed.

The helicopter was headed to Lonavala when it ran into adverse weather conditions. With visibility reduced severely due to continuous rain, the pilot decided it was unsafe to proceed and made a precautionary landing in an open field near Saltar village to ensure passenger safety.

Villagers, who witnessed the aircraft’s sudden descent, initially feared an accident but were relieved when the landing was completed safely. “We rushed to the spot thinking something was wrong, but felt relieved when we saw everyone safe,” a local resident said.
