Pimpri, August 19,  2025: The double-decker flyover at Savitribai Phule Pune University Chowk will be inaugurated on Wednesday (August 20) evening by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis. Built as an alternative solution to ease traffic congestion in the area, the flyover will be opened for public use after the inauguration, making travel easier for commuters, informed PMRDA Commissioner Dr. Yogesh Mhase.

The integrated double-decker flyover has been constructed to resolve the persistent traffic snarls at the University Chowk and Ganeshkhind Road while ensuring long-term traffic management. The project, approved with an estimated budget of ₹277 crore, also included the widening of Ganeshkhind Road from Pune University to the College of Agriculture (RBI stretch) up to 45 meters as per PMC’s development plan.

Following the inauguration, one carriageway (Aundh to Shivajinagar) will be opened for traffic. Ramps connecting Shivajinagar and Aundh have been completed, while those towards Baner and Pashan are expected to be ready by October 2025, said Dr. Mhase.
