Now You Can Schedule WhatsApp Calls Just Like Zoom - Here’s How
WhatsApp, the world’s leading messaging platform, has introduced a new call scheduling feature that allows users to set up voice or video calls in advance—bringing it closer to professional meeting platforms like Zoom and Google Meet.
The new “Schedule Call” option, available under the Calls tab after tapping the “+” button, lets users select a date and time for an upcoming call. All participants automatically receive notifications, eliminating the need for last-minute reminders. Users can schedule both one-on-one and group calls, ensuring smoother coordination for personal and professional conversations.
To make the feature even more convenient, WhatsApp has integrated it with Google Calendar, allowing users to sync calls directly with their schedules. Scheduled calls are displayed in the Calls tab with details such as time, date, and participant names.
Alongside scheduling, WhatsApp has rolled out additional updates inspired by professional conferencing tools. These include a “raise hand” option for better flow during group calls, emoji reactions for quick non-verbal responses, and the ability to share invite links from the Calls tab. Organizers also receive notifications when someone joins through a link. Importantly, all scheduled and live calls remain protected with end-to-end encryption.
How to Schedule a Call on WhatsApp
- Open the Calls tab in WhatsApp.
- Select the contact or group you want to call.
- Tap Schedule Call and choose between a voice or video call.
- Set the preferred date and time, then confirm to send the invite.
The update comes as WhatsApp continues strengthening its communication ecosystem. In June, the company banned over 98 lakh accounts in India, including nearly 19.79 lakh proactive bans made before receiving user complaints.
With these new features, WhatsApp is positioning itself not just as a messaging app, but as a comprehensive communication platform catering to both casual users and professionals.
