Raghav Chadha Urges Free Access To Advanced AI Tools For All Indians
New Delhi, August 20, 2025 – Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MP Raghav Chadha has urged the government to make advanced artificial intelligence (AI) platforms like ChatGPT, Gemini, Grok, and Claude freely accessible to every Indian citizen.
Speaking in the Rajya Sabha, Chadha described AI as more than just a technological advancement, calling it a powerful opportunity for citizens from all walks of life to innovate, learn, and grow.
He highlighted AI’s potential in diverse sectors, saying it can support farmers through smart agriculture techniques, serve as round-the-clock tutors for students, provide business strategies for traders, guide young professionals in their careers, and even assist senior citizens with healthcare advice.
Chadha pointed out that countries such as the UAE, Singapore, and China are already offering free access to advanced AI tools, while Indian users face high subscription costs. “AI can drive productivity, save time, and prepare India for a $15 trillion economy by 2030,” he said.
The MP urged the government to consider providing free access to these technologies across all age groups, social strata, and languages to ensure digital inclusivity and wider benefits for society.
Currently, premium AI subscriptions in India, like ChatGPT Plus, are priced at ₹1,999 per month, though OpenAI recently introduced a more affordable ₹399 plan named ChatGPT Go.
