Masked Man Roaming With Knife Sparks Panic In Akurdi; Police Detain 68-Year-Old Garbage Collector
Pimpri-Chinchwad, August 22, 2025: Residents of Akurdi were left alarmed on Friday morning after spotting a masked man roaming around with a knife, prompting fears of a potential threat. A video of the incident quickly went viral on social media, with many comparing the scene to the infamous “Joker” character from the Batman series.
The footage, reportedly shot near Bramha Hotel, was brought to the attention of the Pimpri-Chinchwad Police control room. Acting swiftly, a team from Nigdi Police Station reached the location and detained the individual.
The man was identified as Machhindra Narayan Navghire, 68, a resident of Akurdi Gaonthan, who works as a garbage collector.
The man was carrying a knife to cut open garbage sacks as part of his work. However, his appearance with a mask created panic among residents. He has been taken into custody for questioning.
