SBI, HDFC Bank, PNB, Canara Bank Revise IMPS Charges From August 2025
New Delhi: Major public and private sector banks, including the State Bank of India (SBI), HDFC Bank, Punjab National Bank (PNB) and Canara Bank, have announced revisions in their Immediate Payment Service (IMPS) charges for retail customers. The changes are applicable from August 2025.
The IMPS facility, operated by the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI), allows customers to transfer money instantly, 24×7, including holidays, with a maximum transaction limit of Rs 5 lakh.
SBI IMPS Charges (Effective August 15, 2025)
- Rs 2 + GST for transfers above Rs 25,000 and up to Rs 1 lakh
- Rs 6 + GST for transfers above Rs 1 lakh and up to Rs 2 lakh
- Rs 10 + GST for transfers above Rs 2 lakh and up to Rs 5 lakh
Exemption: Government, defence and corporate salary account holders continue to enjoy free online IMPS transfers.
HDFC Bank IMPS Charges (Effective August 1, 2025)
- Up to Rs 1,000: Rs 2.50
- Rs 1,001 to Rs 1 lakh: Rs 5
- Above Rs 1 lakh: Rs 15
Only outward transactions are charged. Inward IMPS transfers remain free. Imperia and Preferred customers are exempt.
Canara Bank IMPS Charges (August 2025)
- Up to Rs 1,000: Free
- Rs 1,000 to Rs 10,000: Rs 3 + GST
- Rs 10,001 to Rs 1 lakh: Rs 5 + GST
- Rs 1 lakh to Rs 2 lakh: Rs 10 + GST (online), Rs 12 + GST (branch)
- Rs 2 lakh to Rs 5 lakh: Rs 10 + GST (online), Rs 20 + GST (branch)
Punjab National Bank (PNB) IMPS Charges (August 2025)
- Up to Rs 1,000: Free
- Rs 1,001 to Rs 1 lakh: Rs 5 + GST (online), Rs 6 + GST (branch)
- Above Rs 1 lakh: Rs 12 + GST (branch)
