Pune Municipal Corporation Releases Draft Ward Structure; 41 Wards Proposed For Upcoming Elections

Pune, August 22, 2025 – The much-awaited draft ward structure for the upcoming Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) elections was announced on Friday, revealing a total of 41 wards.

The announcement was made by Pune Municipal Corporation Commissioner Naval Kishor Ram at the PMC headquarters.  

According to the new plan, 40 wards will elect four corporators each, while one ward will elect five, bringing the total number of corporators to 165. The Ambegaon-Katraj ward has been designated as the only five-member ward.

The draft has been prepared as per Supreme Court guidelines, based on the 2011 census, which recorded Pune’s population at 34,81,359.

Among the wards, Ambegaon-Katraj has the highest population at 1,14,970, while Upper Super Indiranagar has the lowest at 75,944.

As per the draft, Kalas-Dhanori is Ward No. 1, while Mohammadwadi-Undri has been designated as Ward No. 41.
