Bringing its lightning-fast delivery service to one of India’s busiest cities, Amazon has rolled out Amazon Now in select areas of Mumbai, after successful launches in Bengaluru and Delhi. The service offers delivery of everyday essentials in just 10 minutes, redefining convenience and speed for urban consumers.
With a focus on ultra-fast fulfilment, Amazon has already established over 100 micro-fulfilment centres across the three cities. These localised hubs, strategically placed close to customer neighbourhoods, allow Amazon Now to maintain high-speed delivery without compromising on product availability or safety. By leveraging advanced inventory technology, these centres are stocked based on local shopping patterns, ensuring essentials are ready to ship the moment an order is placed.
Shoppers using Amazon Now can order from a wide selection of daily-use products including groceries, personal care items, electronic accessories, and small home appliances. While many essentials are delivered within 10 minutes, the service also offers same-day and next-day delivery options for over five million additional items.
The expansion comes at a key moment, as India gears up for its annual festive shopping season — a period marked by heightened demand and increased online activity. Amazon aims to capitalise on this by not only extending its quick commerce reach within Mumbai but also preparing to launch the service in more cities across the country in the coming months.
Samir Kumar, Vice President and Country Manager at Amazon India, shared insights on the service’s growth, explaining that they launched Amazon Now in Bengaluru earlier this year, delivering essentials in just 10 minutes. The response has exceeded their most optimistic expectations, with daily orders growing at 25% month over month and Prime members tripling their shopping frequency after they begin using Amazon Now. Driven by this success, they have expanded to over 100 micro-fulfilment centres and plan to add hundreds more across Bengaluru, Delhi, and Mumbai.
The impact on Prime members has been significant. Customers enrolled in Amazon Prime continue to enjoy unlimited free and fast deliveries, now bolstered by the added benefit of 10-minute access to everyday essentials. Amazon also noted that Prime members using the service shop up to three times more frequently.
