PCMC launches after-school model in 141 civic schools to murture future-ready students
Pimpri, September 15, 2025: Taking a significant step towards transforming public education, the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) has rolled out an innovative After-School Model across all its 141 civic schools for the academic year 2025-26. The initiative, developed in collaboration with The Apprentice Project (TAP), was formally launched at Ankushrao Landge Auditorium, Bhosari, in the presence of dignitaries, school principals, and teachers.
The After-School Model is designed to go beyond the conventional classroom, focusing on the holistic growth of students. The program will help students build creativity, critical thinking, collaboration, and communication skills, complementing academic learning with life skills that prepare them for the real world. Through structured sessions, students will gain exposure to art, coding, technology, and financial literacy – all essential to navigate future challenges with confidence.
As part of the rollout, a detailed orientation session was conducted for principals and teachers. This training explained the objectives, methodology, and curriculum of the program, along with the student-teacher registration process and the responsibilities of principals and nodal officers. This ensures that the model is implemented in a structured, measurable, and outcome-oriented manner across all schools.
The launch event was attended by former Mayor Mai Dhore, Capgemini India’s Executive Vice President Prasad Shetye, DIET representative Rajashree Titkare, TAP Co-founders Prashant Kumar, Anamika Mukherjee, Dinesh Salve, Juhi Shah, as well as heads and teachers from all participating schools.
Speaking on the occasion, Additional Commissioner Pradip Jambhale Patil said,
“For the holistic development of students, skills like arts, coding, technology, and financial literacy are as important as academic knowledge. This initiative will enhance students’ confidence and overall personality.”
Echoing this sentiment, Kirankumar More, Assistant Commissioner, Education Department, added,”The Apprentice Project is a significant step towards ensuring quality education in public schools. Teacher training and after-school experiences will drive students’ all-round growth.”
