Pune Residents To Get Free Shuttle Bus Service To Kothrud Metro Station. Know More Here.
Pune, September 17, 2025: Good news for Pune residents, especially those from Kothrud. A free shuttle bus service has been launched to help citizens travel from their homes to the metro station and back. This initiative will save both money and time for passengers.
To ensure easy access to metro services for residents of Kothrud, a dedicated shuttle bus service has been introduced. With the initiative of Higher and Technical Education Minister Chandrakant Patil, four buses have been provided for this service. Since the service is free, Kothrud residents will now benefit from complete ‘end-to-end connectivity’ to and from the metro.
Local MLA Kothrud Chandrakant Patil has taken this step to ease traffic congestion in Kothrud. The free shuttle buses, launched with support from PMPML and MahaMetro, began operations on Sunday in the presence of Patil. He expressed confidence that this service will save both time and money for daily commuters.
The Vanaz–Garware College metro route, Pune’s first metro corridor, started in 2022 and has seen a steady rise in ridership. Though Kothrud residents have shown great interest in using the metro, the extra time and expense to reach the station created challenges. Hence, the demand for reliable shuttle connectivity has been ongoing. While PMPML had introduced shuttle services earlier, they were not executed effectively.
Against this backdrop, Patil has arranged for four dedicated buses for Kothrud, which will operate regularly and free of cost. This move is expected to boost metro ridership further. Minister Patil and MahaMetro’s Managing Director Shravan Hardikar discussed the routes and structure of the service with assistance from PMPML.
The shuttle buses will operate from Monday to Saturday, with bus stops being planned as per public demand, Patil added.
