Pune, September 18, 2025: French mobility giant Keolis will operate and manage the upcoming Pune Metro Line 3 between Hinjawadi and Shivajinagar, developed by the Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA). The agreement was signed with Pune IT City Metro Rail Limited (PITCMRL), which is executing the 23-km corridor under a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model.

Trial runs on the route have already been conducted, with nearly 87% of the construction completed. Services are targeted to begin by March 2026. The line, with 23 stations, is expected to significantly ease travel for thousands of daily commuters, particularly IT professionals working in Hinjawadi, while linking them directly to Shivajinagar in the city’s core.

The project, costing ₹8,313 crore, is funded through a combination of private investment (₹1,315 crore), institutional loans (₹4,789 crore), central government viability gap funding (₹1,224.8 crore), and a state government contribution of ₹90.58 crore.

Under the contract, Keolis will maintain 22 Alstom-manufactured metro trains and oversee ticketing and operations across all stations. In a notable initiative, the company also plans to deploy an all-women team of metro pilots for the Hinjawadi–Shivajinagar line.
