The Maharashtra Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert for 19 districts in the state as heavy rain accompanied by strong winds and thunderstorms is expected on September 24, 2025. The monsoon activity continues to persist, with fluctuating temperatures in several regions.

According to the latest forecast, coastal areas, Western Maharashtra, Marathwada, North Maharashtra, and parts of Vidarbha may experience thunderstorms and gusty winds. Citizens and farmers have been advised to exercise caution.

Region-wise Weather Forecast for September 24:

  • Konkan and Mumbai Region: Palghar, Thane, Mumbai, and Raigad are likely to witness thunderstorms with lightning and strong winds, prompting a yellow alert. Ratnagiri and Sindhudurg may see moderate rainfall.
  • Western Maharashtra: Pune, Pune Ghats, and Solapur are expected to receive rain with thunderstorms and gusty winds, while Kolhapur, Satara, and Sangli, including the ghats of Satara and Kolhapur, may experience light to moderate rainfall.

  • Marathwada: Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Jalna, Beed, Latur, and Dharashiv districts are on a yellow alert for thunderstorms with strong winds, whereas Parbhani, Hingoli, and Nanded could see light to moderate rain.
  • North Maharashtra: Dhule, Nandurbar, and Jalgaon are likely to have light to moderate rainfall. Nashik, Nashik Ghats, and Ahilyanagar may experience thunderstorms, prompting a yellow alert in these areas.

  • Vidarbha: No rain is expected in Akola, Bhandara, Buldhana, Chandrapur, Nagpur, Wardha, and Washim. However, Amaravati and Yavatmal are likely to see thunderstorms with gusty winds, while Gadchiroli and Gondia may experience heavy rainfall with lightning, leading to a yellow alert in these districts.

The Meteorological Department has warned that most parts of the state may experience cloudy skies, heavy rain showers, and lightning activity on September 24. Citizens and farmers are urged to take necessary precautions to stay safe during this period.
