Southern Command Leads Multiple Flood Relief Operations In Maharashtra
Pune, 25 September 2025 – Over the last five days, Headquarters Southern Command of Indian Army has launched multiple flood relief operations across Dharashiv, Parbhani, Beed and Solapur Districts of Maharashtra. Responding swiftly to the crisis triggered by incessant rains and heavy discharge of water from Jayakwadi, Majalgaon and Sindphana Dams, the Indian Army has undertaken air and ground-based rescue missions to safeguard affected citizens, providing necessary rescue & relief in crisis situation in close coordination with civil administration.
In Lakhi Village, Dharashiv District, Army Aviation Helicopters executed a daring rescue after torrential rains left 12 people stranded on the rooftop of a structurally weak house. Braving adverse weather, the pilots safely airlifted 27 citizens from the inundated area.

In another critical mission at Dharashiv District, Army Aviation supported evacuations by airlifting stranded civilians, complementing the relief efforts of ground-based columns.
Four Flood Relief Columns consisting of Engineering Task Force (ETF), Medical team & advanced equipment were deployed in Dharashiv, Parbhani, Beed and Solapur Districts for sustained ground relief operations. Army teams successfully evacuated 65 adults and 37 children, rescued 45 civilians from isolated areas, and distributed food packets to 500–600 people.
All operations were conducted in close coordination with the Civil Administration, ensuring timely and effective assistance to those in distress. Southern Command remains steadfast in its commitment to respond with speed, precision and dedication during natural calamities.
