Pune: Oil Lamp Sparks Fire In Ambegaon Budruk Apartment, Fire Brigade Contains Blaze
Pune, September 27, 2025: A fire broke out on the third floor of a three-storey residential building in Kalubai Nagar, Ambegaon Budruk, around 2:35 pm on Saturday. The incident sparked panic in the locality, but timely intervention by the fire brigade helped avert a major disaster.
Fire engines from the Katraj Fire Station were immediately rushed to the spot. Firefighters quickly doused the flames using water jets, ensuring that no residents were trapped inside the flat. Their prompt action prevented the fire from spreading to adjoining apartments and nearby structures, thereby avoiding further damage.
Preliminary information provided by the residents suggested that the fire originated in the kitchen. It is suspected that a lamp left burning in the household shrine (devghar) caused the ignition. The intensity of the blaze increased due to the large number of plastic bags stored in the room, which quickly caught fire and spread flames across the apartment.
Though no injuries were reported, the fire destroyed all household belongings inside the flat, causing significant material losses for the family. Residents of the building and neighbors expressed relief that the fire was brought under control before it could turn into a larger tragedy.
The firefighting team included driver Ganesh Bhandare and firefighters Sandeep Ghadshi, Tejas Mandavkar, Yogesh Kumbhar, and Avinash Lande, whose swift and coordinated response played a key role in containing the blaze. Officials confirmed that further inspection would be carried out to rule out any additional hazards.
