Study shows ginger can significantly reduce LDL cholesterol, inflammation, and heart disease risk

In today’s fast-paced life, cases of heart attacks and cardiac arrests are on the rise despite access to doctors, hospitals, and expensive medicines. Yet, a simple ingredient commonly found in every Indian kitchen could prove to be a natural shield for the heart, ginger!

According to a study published in the National Library of Medicine, participants who consumed about three grams of ginger powder daily for 45 days experienced a remarkable reduction in LDL (bad cholesterol) and triglyceride levels. A follow-up trial also showed significant improvements in the lipid profiles of individuals struggling with cholesterol-related issues.

Experts highlight how ginger works on multiple levels. Compounds such as gingerols and shogaols help reduce chronic inflammation, which weakens blood vessels. Ginger also regulates cholesterol production in the liver, limits absorption in the intestines, and prevents LDL oxidation through its antioxidant properties, thereby reducing the risk of dangerous blockages.

Health specialists recommend incorporating ginger into daily diets in simple ways, adding it to morning tea, soups, curries, smoothies, or even consuming it in powdered or capsule form. Regular intake not only helps keep cholesterol in check but also strengthens the heart and lowers the risk of sudden cardiac events.
