Pune: AI-Based Alert Systems Installed At 12 Locations In Shirur To Reduce Human-Leopard Conflicts
Pune, October 1, 2025: To reduce human-leopard conflicts in Shirur taluka, AI-based alert systems have been installed at 12 sensitive locations where leopard movement is frequent.
These systems detect the leopard’s body patterns when it passes through and trigger a siren, alerting nearby residents to its presence so they can remain cautious.
The 12 locations where the systems have been installed include Pimpalacha Mala Mandavgan Farata, Faratewadi Mandavgan Farata, Shivanagar Inamgaon, Firangi Mala Pimpalsuti, Ghayatdak Vasti Karade, Annapur, Sangamwadi Mase Budruk, Amdabad, Nimone, Nimgav Dhude, Jambut, and Pimpalkhed.
The installation of these alert systems was carried out under the guidance of Prashant Khade, Deputy Conservator of Forests, Junnar, and Smita Rajhans, Assistant Conservator of Forests, Junnar, with contributions from Nilkanth Gavhane, Forest Range Officer, Shirur, along with the staff of the Shirur Forest Department.
This system will definitely help in averting any unfortunate incidents.
