Pune: Final Ward Structure For PMC Civic Polls Announced, Changes Made After Objections
Pune, October 4, 2025: The final ward structure for the upcoming Pune Municipal Corporation elections has been announced today. After receiving a large number of objections to the draft ward design, the Election Commission reviewed the concerns and introduced several changes, including modifications in boundaries and ward names. These adjustments have brought relief to many aspiring candidates.
Earlier, citizens had alleged that the draft plan had ignored natural boundaries and violated election commission norms.
Pune residents had submitted objections and suggestions, many of which have now been addressed.
Key changes include the addition of Thite Vasti from Ward No. 15 to Ward No. 4, and part of Shinde Vasti from Wanwadi-Shinde Vasti ward being merged with Ward No. 14. The earlier draft had split Shinde Vasti with a road, drawing significant opposition. Similarly, the area opposite Magarpatta City from Ward No. 14 has been moved to Ward No. 17.
In Bibwewadi, the Mahesh Society ward has been renamed as Bibwewadi Shankar Maharaj Math. The Punyai Nagar area from KK Market has been added to Ward No. 38 (Upper Super Indiranagar), while parts of Ambegaon Dabhadi from Ward No. 34 have also been merged into Ward No. 38. Kolhewadi Jambhulwadi has been added to the same ward as well. Meanwhile, the Sukh Sagar Nagar area of Ward No. 38 has been shifted to Ward No. 39 (Kondhwa-Yeolewadi).
Interestingly, Ward No. 38, which witnessed the highest number of objections, has undergone the most significant boundary changes.
