Former ACP Vishnu Murthy, Who Once Warned Pushpa 2 Actor Allu Arjun, Passes Away of Heart Attack
The ex-police officer had made headlines for his sharp remarks following the Pushpa 2 premiere stampede in Hyderabad.
Former Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Vishnu Murthy, who made headlines last year for publicly warning actor Allu Arjun after the Pushpa 2 stampede incident, passed away on Sunday night at his residence in Hyderabad due to a heart attack.
Murthy, who had served in various capacities during his police career, was remembered by colleagues as a committed and fearless officer. His death has left the police community in deep mourning.
The incident that brought him into the public eye occurred during the premiere of Pushpa 2 at Sandhya Theatre in Hyderabad, where a massive crowd gathered to see Allu Arjun. The chaos led to a stampede in which one woman lost her life and her son was seriously injured.
Following the tragedy, Vishnu Murthy, who had been under suspension since October 2024 over corruption allegations, addressed a press conference at the Hyderabad Press Club. During the conference, he criticized Allu Arjun’s statements regarding the incident, saying the actor lacked a basic understanding of the law. He also accused sections of the film industry of unfairly blaming the police.

“This action is a clear violation of disciplinary norms,” Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Akshansh Yadav had said at the time, confirming that a report against Murthy was forwarded to the Director General of Police (DGP) for disciplinary proceedings.
Despite the controversy, Murthy’s firm stance and outspoken defense of the police department earned him public respect for his integrity. His passing marks the end of a career defined by boldness and adherence to duty.
Meanwhile, Allu Arjun, who was briefly arrested following the stampede and later released on bail, is now gearing up for his next major project, a film directed by Atlee, co-starring Deepika Padukone, slated for release in late 2026 or early 2027.
