Big B gets playful with young contestants in KBC Junior special; Purav takes home Rs.5 lakh, Divisha becomes rollover contestant
In the latest Kaun Banega Crorepati 17 – Junior Special, host Amitabh Bachchan found himself both amused and slightly nervous while playing alongside some bright young minds. The episode featured Purav Bhattacharyya from Kolkata and Divisha Vaishnav from Ajmer, who brought energy, wit, and laughter to the hot seat.

Purav, who hails from West Bengal, took the hot seat first and instantly won everyone’s hearts with his confidence and humour. He even surprised Big B by calling him “Bhoot Uncle”, referring to Bachchan’s role in the film Bhootnath. When Amitabh laughed and clarified, “I had played a role in Bhootnath but I am not a bhoot,” Purav cheekily replied, “Yes, you are.” Big B asked if he had ever seen a ghost, and Purav quipped, “Yes, you.”
The fun continued as all the children present gave a special performance to celebrate Amitabh Bachchan’s upcoming birthday on October 11.
Purav used his first lifeline on the opening question — “What word completes the idiom ‘kill two ___ with one stone’?” — correctly answering “birds” with audience help. He later earned ₹70,000 in the Super Sandook round, reviving his Audience Poll lifeline. For the ₹7,50,000 question — “Which of these teeth of the elephant elongate and grow into tusks?” — he went with “Canines” based on poll results. Unfortunately, the correct answer was “Incisors”, bringing his total winnings to ₹5 lakh.
After Purav’s exit, Divisha Vaishnav, a talented chess player from Ajmer, Rajasthan, took the hot seat. A self-proclaimed “#ChessChampion,” Divisha revealed that she began playing during the Covid lockdown and has since competed in under-13 and under-14 categories.
Her lively nature had Big B in splits. When he teasingly asked, “Aap bolte rahoge ya hum aage khele?” Divisha replied with a grin, “Nothing stays in my stomach. I need something for digestion. Aap khele, I have a lot to talk.”
Divisha played confidently up to the ₹3 lakh question and will return as the rollover contestant in the next episode.
The Junior Special episode of KBC 17 stood out for its blend of innocence, intelligence, and light-hearted banter — making it one of the most heartwarming episodes of the season so far.
