Pune, October 12, 2025: Hundreds of students from various colleges affiliated with Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU) have raised concerns after their Permanent Registration Numbers (PRNs) were reportedly blocked following the completion of their academic term. The move has caused widespread anxiety among students, as it has halted their exam registrations, result processing, and degree completion.

A delegation of students met Pro-Vice Chancellor Dr. Parag Kalkar and submitted a memorandum demanding that the blocked PRNs be reactivated immediately. The students emphasized that their academic progress and future prospects were being severely affected by the decision.

According to the delegation, many affected students were unable to complete their studies within the prescribed time due to personal, financial, or health-related reasons. They stated that denying such students the opportunity to complete their education goes against the inclusive and social responsibility principles of educational institutions.

During the meeting, Dr. Kalkar assured the delegation that the administration would take a positive view of their demands and consider appropriate measures. The students expressed hope that the university would soon resolve the issue to protect their academic interests.

It is estimated that thousands of students from SPPU-affiliated colleges in Pune, Nashik, and Ahmednagar are facing similar difficulties. They fear losing an entire academic year if the PRN blockage is not lifted in time.

Student representative Shiva Barole, who led the delegation, warned that if the issue remains unresolved, students may be compelled to intensify their agitation to draw the administration’s attention.

The students have urged the university to take a student-centric decision to ensure that no one’s education or career suffers due to administrative delays.
