Pune: Temporary Closure Of Shikrapur-Pabal And Sanaswadi Chowk Dividers Announced Till November 7
Pune, October 13, 2025: The district administration has announced the temporary closure of the dividers at Pabal Chowk in Shikrapur and Sanaswadi Chowk on the Pune–Ahilyanagar National Highway No. 753(F). The closure will remain in effect until November 7, 2025, and has been implemented on an experimental basis to monitor traffic flow and safety.
According to the order issued by District Collector and District Magistrate Jitendra Dudi, the decision aims to evaluate the impact of divider closure on reducing accidents and improving vehicular movement along this busy highway stretch.
The directive has been enforced under the authority granted by Sections 115 and 196 of the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988, as well as the Home Department notification dated May 19, 1990. These legal provisions empower district authorities to implement temporary traffic control measures when deemed necessary for public safety and convenience.
Officials stated that during the closure period, vehicles will be diverted through alternative routes as required. Traffic police and highway patrol units will be deployed at key points to assist motorists and ensure smooth movement in the affected areas.
The administration has clarified that this step is temporary and experimental. The impact of the closure will be closely reviewed, and based on the outcome, authorities may either extend, modify, or revoke the restriction.
Residents and commuters have been urged to cooperate with the authorities and follow the revised traffic instructions during this period. The district administration also mentioned that if any legal or procedural issues arise during the implementation, a revised notification will be issued promptly.
