“He Tried to Sleep Next to Me”: Woman Faces Creepy Passengers on Her Reserved Seat; Watch
A young woman from Kerala shared a disturbing experience on her first train journey to Varanasi, which quickly went viral on social media. Her trip, which began with excitement and smiles, soon turned into a stressful ordeal when she faced overcrowding and passengers occupying her reserved seat. The woman, identified as Neha, captured the events on Instagram, sharing several videos that highlighted the challenges she faced.
Kerala Woman’s First Train Journey Turns Viral After Overcrowding Nightmare
Neha explained that she had booked a reserved seat for the two-day journey, but as the train moved into northern states, several passengers forcefully occupied her seat. In one video, she can be seen adjusting herself while a family of four, including a woman and children, sat in her place. Despite repeated complaints to rail guards and Rail Seva, Neha said that no one effectively resolved the situation, forcing her to share the experience online.

The situation became more alarming during the night. In one viral clip, Neha woke up to find a man attempting to sleep on her seat around 4 AM. She yelled at him, and he eventually moved. “Be ready to face anything while traveling to the North. I sure can adjust this to some level! What else can I do? Nothing is going to change,” Neha wrote on her Instagram post.
She also expressed her discomfort with certain men’s behavior, saying, “I am not blaming men completely; they might not have any bad intention. Some do give me creepy looks, but I can see the real situation of some too! They may never intend to do anything, but their presence and body language and senseless behavior are making me uncomfortable! And as I booked my own seat and paid, I have the right to ask!”
Clarifying Her Intent Behind Posting Videos
Following the viral response, Neha addressed comments and concerns about regional stereotyping. She clarified that her intention was to document her personal experience, not generalize or create a North vs. South debate. “Hey guys, thank you all for tagging authorities and engaging here. I am aware of how train travel is on the northern side; I travelled in a general compartment during my previous Varanasi trip. That’s why I booked a seat for this journey, and this is my first experience,” she wrote.
The videos quickly caught attention on Instagram, with viewers sympathising with Neha’s experience. Many users highlighted the lack of enforcement of seating rules and the dangers of overcrowding, particularly for solo travelers. While some expressed concern about her comments on men’s behavior, most understood her perspective as a first-hand account of discomfort and safety risks. However, Indian Railways has not officially responded to her posts.
