Weather Alert: Heavy Rain Expected in Maharashtra on October 16; IMD Issues Yellow Alert for 13 Districts
Maharashtra Weather Update – The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert for 13 districts across Maharashtra on October 16, 2025, warning of light to moderate rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms and strong winds. The alert comes even as the southwest monsoon has officially withdrawn from the state, but changing weather conditions are likely to trigger fresh rain spells.
According to IMD reports, favourable weather conditions for rainfall have developed over several parts of the state for October 15, 16, and 17. The western and central regions of Maharashtra are expected to experience significant rainfall during this period.
In Mumbai, the sky is likely to remain mostly clear, with maximum temperatures around 35°C and minimum temperatures near 24°C. However, Raigad and Ratnagiri districts have been placed under a yellow alert due to possible isolated heavy showers.
Western Maharashtra, including Pune and Satara, may witness the most intense rainfall activity, with a yellow alert already in place for both districts.
In North Maharashtra, except Nandurbar, the districts of Dhule, Nashik, Ahmednagar, and Jalgaon are all under a yellow alert for expected rainfall.
Meanwhile, Marathwada is also likely to see continued rainfall activity. The IMD has issued yellow alerts for Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Jalna, Beed, Dharashiv (Osmanabad), and Latur districts.
The Vidarbha region, however, is expected to remain mostly dry, with Nagpur and Amravati recording maximum temperatures of around 35°C and minimums between 24°C and 25°C.
Despite the monsoon’s retreat, local atmospheric disturbances are creating conditions conducive to rainfall in several regions. In Jalna, parts of Marathwada have already witnessed short but intense spells of rain during the afternoon hours.
