Pune: Wakad-Punawale Internal And DP Roads To Be Completed On War Footing To Ease Traffic
Chinchwad, October 16, 2025: Officials have been directed to complete all ongoing work on the internal and DP roads between Wakad, Punawale, and Mamurdi on a war footing, aiming to provide long-awaited relief to residents and commuters from persistent traffic congestion.
The inspection of ongoing road works took place on Wednesday, October 15, with BJP corporators, office bearers, and concerned officials present. Authorities were instructed to prioritize critical tasks such as asphalting, removal of encroachments, relocation of service lines, and clearing traffic routes to expedite relief.
Officials have been asked to coordinate closely with all relevant agencies, including the National Highways Authority, Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC), Transport Department, and Mahavitaran, to ensure timely completion of the project.
Residents have faced severe traffic congestion over the past year. Following a prior directive from Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis to accelerate the work, significant progress has been made on the service road from Bhujbal Chowk to Bhumkar Chowk. The remaining internal and DP roads are now set to be completed promptly, offering much-needed relief to daily commuters.
“Once the work is completed, residents and drivers will benefit greatly from reduced congestion,” said MLA Shankar Jagtap.
