Pune: Flames Engulf MSRTC Bus at Indapur Stand; Passengers Escape Safely
Pune witnessed a frightening incident on Saturday night when an MSRTC bus parked at the Indapur bus stand suddenly caught fire. The incident occurred around 10 p.m., shortly after the bus had dropped off its passengers. Thankfully, everyone on board had already disembarked, preventing any casualties. Eyewitnesses reported that the fire originated in the engine compartment of the stationary bus. Within moments, the flames spread rapidly, consuming the entire vehicle. The speed at which the fire escalated left bystanders shocked, as the bus quickly became a blazing inferno.
Officials from the Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) confirmed that the bus had been idle after completing its passenger drop-off when the engine caught fire. Firefighters responded promptly, but the intensity of the blaze meant that the bus was fully engulfed before the fire could be contained.
Fortunately, no injuries were reported, and all passengers were able to leave the bus safely before the fire broke out. Local authorities praised the quick action of the passengers, which helped avoid potential tragedy. Incidents like these highlight the importance of regular maintenance and safety checks for public transport vehicles. While the exact cause of the fire is still under investigation, early reports suggest that a technical malfunction in the engine area may have triggered the flames.
