Pune: Nitten Kirrtane Creates History — Wins Double Gold for India at Pickleball World Cup in Florida
Pune, November 6, 2025: Indian tennis ace turned pickleball champion Nitten Kirrtane has once again brought glory to the nation — this time at the Pickleball World Cup held in Florida, USA, where he proudly represented India among 68 participating countries.
Kirrtane clinched two Gold Medals — in the 50+ Men’s Singles and the 50+ Men’s Doubles (partnering with Suryaveer Bhullar President of Pickleball Association of India) — marking a historic milestone in his illustrious sporting journey.
“Life has come a full circle for me,” said Kirrtane. who returned from USA today. “Florida has always been lucky — this is where I won my first Tennis World Championship title in 2018, and now to win the Pickleball World Cup here makes it truly special and fulfilling.”
With this remarkable achievement, Nitten Kirrtane becomes the only Indian athlete to win a World Championship in two different sports — Tennis and Pickleball.
From representing India in the Davis Cup and competing alongside stalwarts like Leander Paes and Mahesh Bhupathi, to now excelling on the world stage in a new and rapidly growing sport, Kirrtane’s journey stands as a testament to passion, perseverance, and self-belief.
“This isn’t just a win for India — it’s a story of legacy, second innings, and the enduring magic of sport,” said a spokesperson from Pickleball One.
Speaking on the growth of the sport, Kirrtane added, “Pickleball is growing rapidly in the USA and has tremendous potential in India. I hope more people take up this exciting and inclusive sport that’s loved across generations. I also sincerely hope that Indian pickleball players receive at least half the recognition, encouragement, and support that cricket players enjoy. We, too, are toiling, giving our best, and representing India on the world stage — bringing pride and laurels to our country.”
