Pune: NCP Issues Show-Cause Notice to Rupali Patil Thombare Over Remarks Against State Women’s Commission Chief
Pune: The Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), led by Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, has issued a show-cause notice to its Pune-based state spokesperson, Rupali Patil Thombare, for her remarks against State Women’s Commission Chairperson and NCP women’s wing president, Rupali Chakankar.
The notice, signed by NCP State Organisation General Secretary Sanjay Khodke, stated that Thombre’s comments amounted to a breach of party discipline. She has been asked to submit an explanation within seven days, failing which disciplinary action will be taken against her.
The development comes after Thombre, along with several women’s groups, protested in Pune against the State Women’s Commission’s alleged inaction in the suicide case of a woman doctor from Satara. She had demanded the resignation of Rupali Chakankar, accusing the Commission of negligence.
Responding to the notice, Thombare posted on Facebook that the time given for her explanation was “extremely short” but assured she would submit a detailed response.
She wrote, “Tonight, the party has sought an explanation for my remarks on the Chairperson of the Women’s Commission. I will be giving a detailed clarification covering everything—from personal interests to the Hagawane case and the character assassination of our late sister, the woman doctor from Satara who ended her life.”
Thombre further questioned, “But what explanation should be given about those who defamed the character of the deceased sister?”
