Pune: Heavy Traffic Chaos Near Gahunje Stadium as Thousands Arrive for A.R. Rahman Concert
Gahunje, November 23, 2025: Traffic movement near the Gahunje Stadium came to a grinding halt on Sunday evening after thousands of fans arrived for a live concert by acclaimed music composer A.R. Rahman. The sudden spike in crowd numbers led to large-scale congestion on the key approach roads, causing delays for regular commuters.
According to officials, long queues of vehicles stretched for several kilometres as concertgoers made their way to the venue. Traffic slowed to a crawl for more than an hour, with motorists struggling to navigate the packed roads leading towards the stadium.
Police teams had been stationed around the area to manage the expected rush, but the overwhelming turnout resulted in continued bottlenecks. Despite efforts to regulate the flow of vehicles, heavy congestion persisted through the evening, affecting both event attendees and daily travellers.
Authorities urged motorists to use alternative routes until traffic returned to normal. Additional personnel were deployed to ease the movement of vehicles and prevent further build-up near the venue.
Residents and commuters reported significant delays on connecting roads, with many expressing concerns over inadequate traffic planning during large-scale events at Gahunje Stadium. Local officials said measures would be reviewed to prevent similar disruptions in the future, especially during high-profile gatherings.
The A.R. Rahman concert attracted a massive audience, leading to one of the busiest evenings in the area in recent months. While the event drew enthusiastic crowds, it also highlighted the growing need for improved traffic management during major events to ensure smooth travel for the public.
