Jagtap’s consistent follow-up with Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari, has resulted in the approval of service road development worth ₹321 crore between Dehu Road and Khed-Shivapur toll plaza. Following this approval, pending works along the Wakad, Punawale, Tathawade, Mamurdi, Ravet and Kiwale stretches are being completed rapidly.

The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has already finished asphalting works from the Pavana River stretch up to the Punawale underpass, and from Punawale to the Tathawade underpass. The work will now extend up to Bhumkar Chowk. According to MLA Jagtap, continuous inspections and reviews are being carried out to ensure speedy completion.

These enhanced service roads are expected to significantly ease congestion for Hinjawadi-bound IT professionals. Thousands of employees from Punawale, Tathawade, Wakad, and surrounding areas use this route daily, and the smoother, wider service lanes will help reduce travel time and bottlenecks.

The 9.7 km stretch covering Wakad–Tathawade–Punawale–Ravet–Kiwale is currently under development, along with a 12-metre-wide DP road inside PMC limits that NHAI has taken up simultaneously.

MLA Jagtap added that the rapid growth of residential societies and IT hubs around Tathawade, Punawale, Ravet, and Wakad has made efficient road connectivity a top priority. He said these works are being executed with a long-term vision of the next 50 years, ensuring smoother mobility and avoiding future traffic snarls.
