Pune: Over ₹1 Lakh Worth Of Fake Liquor Seized In Raid By State Excise Flying Squad
Pune, November 27, 2025: In a major operation by the State Excise Department’s Flying Squad No. 3, counterfeit country liquor worth ₹1,14,625 has been seized.
Acting on reliable information, the flying squad conducted a raid on November 25 at an illegal liquor den in Mutkewadi, located in the Nanekarwadi area of Khed taluka. During the raid, officers recovered 644 fake sealed bottles of country liquor (Power Line Punch) in 180 ml and 90 ml capacities, along with 71 sealed counterfeit bottles of foreign liquor. Materials used for manufacturing fake liquor were also seized, bringing the total value of confiscated goods to ₹1,14,625.
Following the raid, two accused — Ahmedsaab Pathan and Harish Brijesh Kumar Chandra — were arrested and produced before the Judicial Magistrate First Class, Khed. The court has remanded them to 14 days of judicial custody, and they have been sent to Yerwada Jail in Pune.
The operation was carried out by Inspector Devdutt Pote, Sub-Inspectors Y. M. Chavan and P. A. Thakre, along with Assistant Sub-Inspector S. D. Sathe and personnel Amar Kamble, Anil Dangat, Girish Mane, Jagannath Chavan, Jaydas Date, and driver Sharad Handgar.
State Excise Superintendent Atul Kanade appealed to citizens to immediately inform the State Excise Department if they come across information related to banned liquor, counterfeit liquor, or illicit country-made alcohol, emphasizing that such activities cause substantial revenue loss to the government.
