Mumbai–Pune Expressway: Heavy traffic jam on Pune lane near Khandala Borghat; police on site.
Commuters are facing severe inconvenience due to long traffic snarls in the Khopoli–Bor Ghat stretch, triggered by a sudden surge in vehicles heading towards Pune. Traffic movement has slowed significantly on both the Mumbai–Pune Expressway and the old Mumbai–Pune National Highway.
Massive congestion has been reported between Khopoli and Khandala in the Bor Ghat section. Long queues of vehicles have formed from Shingroba Temple to the Dashturi Traffic Check Post. Traffic has also come to a complete standstill near the Amrutanjan Bridge and the Battery Hill area.
Vehicles are crawling at a snail’s pace from the Khandala Tunnel to the Khandala Overbridge. On the old Khandala–Lonavala route, vehicle queues have stretched for nearly 7 to 8 kilometres, further adding to commuters’ woes.

The Raigad Traffic Police, Pune Rural Traffic Police, and Highway Traffic Police are jointly working to ease the congestion and regulate traffic. Authorities said the jam was caused due to the weekend rush, with a large number of Mumbaikars travelling out of the city, along with indiscipline by some motorists.
Traffic is expected to gradually return to normal, officials said, advising commuters to remain patient and follow traffic rules.
