Samruddhi Expressway Tragedy Strikes Again: Wedding Journey Turns Fatal Near Sinnar
The Samruddhi Expressway witnessed yet another heartbreaking tragedy, raising serious concerns about safety on the high-speed corridor. In a devastating accident near Sinnar in Nashik district, a family’s journey to attend a wedding ended in disaster when their car met with a horrific crash in the early hours of the morning.
According to preliminary information, a Kia Carens travelling on the expressway suffered a sudden tyre burst around 1 a.m. near the Patole Shivar area of Sinnar taluka. The loss of control caused the vehicle to overturn and crash violently into a truck. The impact was so severe that the car was completely crushed.
At the time of the accident, 11 people were travelling in the car — three adults and eight young children. Tragically, two adults, a man and a woman, lost their lives on the spot. The remaining nine occupants sustained injuries, several of them serious. Children who suffered head injuries are currently undergoing treatment.
The victims were relatives from Kalyan who were on their way to Fardapur in Sinnar taluka to attend a wedding ceremony. What was meant to be a joyful family gathering instead plunged the family into unimaginable grief, especially as most of the passengers were children.
The injured were initially admitted to a private hospital in Sinnar, while three critically injured victims were later shifted to Nashik for advanced medical care. Adding to the distress, it has been reported that despite the accident occurring at around 1 a.m., private buses on the expressway did not stop to assist the injured until nearly 4 a.m.
In addition to the crushed car, two private buses and another four-wheeler were also damaged in the incident. Sinnar police have launched a detailed investigation to determine the exact sequence of events and are examining all possible factors surrounding the crash.
Another Fatal Accident in Washim
This accident comes close on the heels of another deadly incident on the same expressway in Washim district. On Thursday night at around 11 p.m., a car carrying devotees travelling from Yavatmal to Shirdi for religious दर्शन (pilgrimage) met with an accident within the jurisdiction of Dhanaj Police Station. In that crash, two devotees died on the spot, while two others were injured.
