Pune, December 15, 2025: Pune residents are being warned to remain vigilant as a rise in thefts linked to open or unlocked doors has been reported across several suburbs. For burglars, an open door has become an easy “welcome entry,” with multiple incidents of valuables being stolen from apartments in Warje, Erandwane and Dhankawdi.

In Erandwane, thieves took advantage of an unlocked door at a flat in Archana Nagar Society and entered the bedroom, stealing gold bangles worth ₹2 lakh kept on a glass corner table. A senior citizen woman has lodged a complaint at the Alankar Police Station.

In a similar incident in Dhankawdi’s Chaitanya Nagar, burglars entered a flat after noticing the door was left open. They stole a gold mangalsutra and pendant worth ₹2 lakh from a bedroom cupboard. A 36-year-old resident has filed a complaint at Sahakarnagar Police Station.

Another case was reported from Warje, where a young man was asleep when thieves exploited the open door of his first-floor flat. The accused fled with a laptop, headphones, and ₹10,000 in cash from his office bag. The distressed victim has reported the matter at Warje Malwadi Police Station.

These repeated incidents have raised serious concerns over residential security, with citizens paying a heavy price for leaving doors unlocked. Pune Police have appealed to residents to remain alert and follow basic safety precautions.

Guard’s House Burgled; Jewellery Worth ₹3 Lakh Stolen

The complainant, who works as a guard at a society near Ladkat Petrol Pump, was away with his family since December 1. Taking advantage of his absence, the burglars broke the lock and stole gold ornaments worth ₹2.99 lakh from a cupboard. Police have seized CCTV footage from the society premises for investigation.
