Pune: A late-night incident in Bavdhan turned serious after a Swiggy delivery executive was critically injured when a car driven by an intoxicated motorist hit him near Chandni Chowk in the early hours of December 16.
The accident occurred at around 3.37 am near Ira Coffee. The victim, Prasad Dilip Misal (26), had completed a delivery and was standing beside his motorcycle when a speeding Hyundai Creta rammed into him from behind. Eyewitnesses said the car ran over his chest, causing severe crushing injuries.
Misal was initially rushed to Sahyadri Hospital, where doctors confirmed multiple critical injuries. Due to the high cost of treatment, his family later shifted him to Sassoon General Hospital, where he is currently undergoing treatment in the ICU. Misal is the sole earning member of his family.
The driver of the car, identified as Tejas Babulal Chaudhary (32), a resident of Bavdhan, was found to be under the influence of alcohol. Police officials said he appeared heavily intoxicated at the spot and was sent for a medical examination, which confirmed alcohol consumption.
