Pune, December 24, 2025: Despite repeated complaints to the Wanowrie Traffic Division, residents and daily commuters continue to face severe traffic congestion and pedestrian safety hazards due to unchecked illegal parking outside One Place Mall on Salunke Vihar road in Kondhwa and nearby commercial establishments in Wanowrie.

The persistent problem is largely attributed to visitors to One Place Mall, whose vehicles occupy a substantial portion of the adjoining road throughout the day. This has resulted in frequent traffic snarls, slowing down vehicular movement and causing inconvenience to residents, office-goers and emergency vehicles passing through the area.

Adding to the concern is the complete encroachment of pedestrian pavements. The footpath in front of Clover Citadel Society in Wanowrie, meant exclusively for pedestrians, is reportedly occupied round the clock by parked cars. As a result, pedestrians, including senior citizens, children and school-going students, are forced to walk on the main carriageway, exposing them to fast-moving traffic and increasing the risk of accidents.

Similarly, the pavement outside the One Place commercial building has been taken over by illegally parked two-wheelers. Residents allege that this practice has become routine and continues unchecked, despite the area being a busy commercial and residential stretch with high pedestrian movement.

Locals have expressed disappointment over the apparent lack of enforcement by traffic authorities. They claim that the issue has been formally brought to the notice of the Wanowrie Traffic Division on multiple occasions, but no sustained action has been taken to curb illegal parking or ease congestion.

“The situation remains unchanged whether it is day or night. There is a blatant disregard for pedestrian safety, and neither the violators nor the authorities seem concerned,” said a resident, adding that footpaths have effectively ceased to exist for their intended users.

Residents are now urging higher authorities to intervene and take immediate corrective measures. They have demanded strict enforcement of no-parking rules, regular towing of illegally parked vehicles, and deployment of traffic personnel during peak hours to ensure smooth flow of traffic.

Citizens have expressed hope that the matter will be taken seriously by the concerned authorities and that prompt action will be initiated to remove illegally parked vehicles and restore footpaths for pedestrians before the situation leads to a serious accident.
