Momentum is building around Pune’s much-awaited Metro Line 3 as the Hinjawadi–Man–Shivajinagar corridor moves a step closer to welcoming passengers. The project has successfully completed mandatory safety and technical examinations, marking a major breakthrough in its journey toward commercial operations.

The inspections were carried out by the Research Designs and Standards Organisation (RDSO), the Indian Railways body responsible for certifying rail-based transport systems. This approval is considered one of the most decisive requirements before any metro service can begin. With RDSO’s assessment now concluded, officials confirmed that the corridor has entered an advanced pre-launch phase.

Completion of this review significantly improves the prospects of starting passenger services. Authorities involved in the project described the clearance as a crucial validation of the metro’s safety mechanisms and technical preparedness, bringing operational timelines firmly into focus.

Construction activity across the Line 3 corridor is progressing steadily. Station structures, platforms, entry and exit points, along with essential commuter facilities, are in the final stages of development. Interior finishing, system installations, and civil works are continuing simultaneously to ensure readiness across stations.

Multiple agencies are working in coordination to meet the targeted schedule. As per the current plan, most stations along Pune Metro Line 3 are expected to open for public use by March 31, subject to the completion of remaining formalities and system integration.

On the rolling stock front, deliveries are moving as planned. Fourteen metro trainsets have already arrived, while the total fleet is set to reach 22 trains in line with the approved timeline. These trains will be deployed for phased testing, trial operations, and system validation before regular services begin.

Following the RDSO clearance, the administration will now focus on conducting trial runs and detailed system checks in stages. Once these processes are completed successfully, the corridor will transition into full-scale passenger operations.
