Accused trapped while entering house through kitchen vent; police recover car with police sticker

A theft attempt in Rajasthan’s Kota took an unexpected and dramatic turn when a burglar got stuck while trying to enter a house through a kitchen exhaust fan, leading to his arrest. The unusual incident occurred in the Borkheda police station area and has left residents both shocked and amused.

According to details, the incident came to light late on the night of January 4 when the homeowner, Subhash Kumar Rawat, returned to his house after a short trip. Rawat and his wife had gone to visit Khatushyamji on January 3 and returned home the following night. As they unlocked the main gate and their scooter headlights illuminated the house, they were stunned to see a man half inside the kitchen exhaust fan.

The accused had allegedly tried to break into the house by squeezing through a hole meant for the exhaust fan in the kitchen wall. However, misjudging the space, he got stuck midway and was unable to move forward or retreat. On spotting the man trapped in the wall, Rawat and his wife immediately raised an alarm.

Their shouts drew the attention of neighbours, who quickly gathered at the spot. During the commotion, one of the thief’s accomplices managed to flee the scene, while the man stuck in the exhaust fan hole remained trapped. Locals ensured that he could not escape and informed the police.

Eyewitnesses said that the trapped accused initially tried to intimidate the homeowners and neighbours, claiming that several of his accomplices were waiting nearby and threatening consequences if he was not released. However, the residents refused to give in and stood their ground until the police arrived.

Police teams from the Borkheda police station reached the spot shortly after receiving the information. After considerable effort, officers managed to pull the accused out of the exhaust fan opening. He was immediately taken into custody and later arrested.

During the investigation, police made a surprising discovery. The car used by the accused to reach the area was found parked nearby and had a police sticker pasted on it. The vehicle has been seized, and officials are now probing whether the sticker was used to avoid suspicion or police checks.

The arrested man is currently being interrogated to gather more information about his accomplice who escaped and to determine whether he is involved in other theft cases in the city. Police are also checking the background of the accused and examining CCTV footage from nearby areas to trace the absconding partner.

The bizarre nature of the incident has sparked widespread discussion among locals, with many expressing disbelief at the method used for the attempted theft. Residents in the area have also been advised to remain alert and ensure proper security measures, especially while travelling.

Police said further action will be taken based on the outcome of the ongoing investigation, and efforts are underway to identify and arrest the absconding accomplice.
