Pune, January 14, 2026: Getting a driving licence or RC book delivered at home has become more expensive for motorists in Pune. The Regional Transport Office (RTO), in coordination with the Postal Department, has revised the charges for the home delivery service of driving licences and registration certificates.

Earlier, citizens were required to pay ₹58 for the doorstep delivery of their driving licence or RC book. However, under the revised rates, vehicle owners will now have to pay ₹70 for the same service. The new charges have come into effect from January 1, 2026.

The home delivery facility is primarily used after a candidate clears the driving test or purchases a new vehicle. The service helps citizens save time and avoid visiting RTO offices and standing in long queues. While the convenience remains intact, the increased postal fee is expected to add a small financial burden on vehicle owners.

Speaking on the matter, Swapnil Bhosale, Sub-Regional Transport Officer, stated that the hike in charges was implemented as per instructions from the Transport Department. He added that since the service is operated through an official agreement with the Postal Department, it ensures safe, reliable, and timely delivery of documents to citizens.

Despite the increase in cost, the home delivery service continues to be a convenient option for Pune’s motorists, offering relief from administrative delays and overcrowding at government offices. However, citizens are now advised to be prepared for the revised fee while opting for doorstep delivery of licences and RC books.
