Bajaj Pune Grand Tour 2026 Finale Draws Huge Crowds, Transforms Pimpri-Chinchwad into a Citywide Sporting Celebration
Pimpri, January 23, 2026:
The final and most decisive stage of the prestigious international cycling event, Bajaj Pune Grand Tour 2026, was successfully held today across Pimpri-Chinchwad, creating a festive sporting atmosphere throughout the city.
Thousands of residents lined both sides of major roads, including the Mother Teresa Bridge, to witness the high-octane race. The cyclists were welcomed with loud applause and cheers, as citizens enthusiastically encouraged participants, turning the entire city into a vibrant sporting carnival.
The concluding stage of the race commenced at Shri Shiv Chhatrapati Sports Complex, Mahalunge–Balewadi, at 1:30 pm and concluded at Bal Gandharva Rangmandir on Jangli Maharaj Road, Pune, at 4:00 pm. Spanning a total distance of 99.15 kilometres, the route passed through several key locations in Pimpri-Chinchwad such as Rajiv Gandhi Bridge (Aundh), Kalewadi Phata, Basket Bridge (Ravet), D.Y. Patil College (Akurdi), Bhakti-Shakti Chowk, Triveninagar Chowk, Durganagar Chowk, Indrayaninagar Chowk, Sant Dnyaneshwar Sports Complex, Bhosari District Centre, Spine Road, Old RTO Road, the Commissioner’s Bungalow, Empire Estate Bridge, and other prominent routes.

Preparations undertaken by the Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation, in line with Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) standards, proved highly effective. Extensive road resurfacing, leveling of chambers, repair and repainting of BRT railings, junction beautification, thermoplastic road markings, bridge beautification, and a special cleanliness drive along the entire route presented the city in an international-standard format.
Detailed planning was also carried out for traffic regulation, security arrangements, medical facilities, and emergency services. Although traffic diversions were implemented for a limited duration, citizens cooperated with the administration and patiently enjoyed the event.
With artistic murals, decorative elements, and disciplined road management, Pimpri-Chinchwad showcased a remarkable blend of sports, culture, and global competition. The presence of renowned cyclists from India and abroad added to the excitement among residents.
Under the guidance of Municipal Commissioner and Administrator Shravan Hardikar, the successful execution of the event once again demonstrated Pimpri-Chinchwad’s capability to host international-level sporting events efficiently and on a grand scale.
