Baramati | Maharashtra: Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister and Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader Ajit Pawar and three others died after the chartered aircraft they were travelling in crash-landed during an attempted landing near Baramati on Wednesday morning, officials said.

According to a PTI report citing officials, the aircraft was en route to Baramati from Mumbai when the incident occurred at around 8.45 am.

The circumstances leading to the crash landing are yet to be officially clarified, and authorities have not confirmed whether the incident was caused by a technical fault or adverse conditions.

Ajit Pawar, a senior leader of the NCP and nephew of veteran politician Sharad Pawar, had long been a dominant figure in Baramati’s political landscape. As Deputy Chief Minister, he played a key role in state governance and was closely associated with infrastructure development and cooperative sector affairs in the region.

Emergency services and local officials have reached the site, while senior government authorities are monitoring the situation. Official confirmation regarding the exact cause of the crash is awaited.
